Kids Off The Block Celebrates 10th Year Anniversary!
Posted by Diane Latiker of Kids Off The Block on Sep 13, 2013
In July of 2003, Diane Latiker founded an organization called Kids Off The Block in her living room with ten neighborhood kids. Her Mom (Evangelist Ruth Jackson) saw how the children liked and respected her daughter. One day she said "Diane why don't you do something with the kids, they like and respect you". This was the beginning of what is now known as KOB.
After ten years, over 2,000 youth serviced through programs and support, many events, meetings, rallies and marches, KOB has been recognized internationally, nationally, and locally for it's tireless work for children/teens and young adults in the city of Chicago, IL. KOB has lead the charge against youth violence and youth development. The organization opens it's doors to all youth (gang members, homeless youth, dropout youth, and youth who feel hopeless).
In July of 2013, hundreds came out to celebrate accomplishments with the organization at a two-day festival. Looking forward to the future, CEO/Founder Diane Latiker stated that she believes in the youth she cares for on a daily basis and will continue to work towards helping them to succeed in life.
